2001 Allandale Winery Mudgee Cabernet Sauvignon
Cabernet Sauvignon is a variety well suited to the continental
climate of the Mudgee district. The 2001 vintage was warm
and dry, with grapes being harvested in perfect condition
after a long ripening period. The berries were plunged in
small, open fermenters for 6 days before pressing. Then aged
in American Hogsheads for 12 months prior to blending and
bottling in August 2002. The resulting wine is crimson in
colour, with lifted berry and licorice character on the nose.
The palate is complex with soft tannins and a lingering finish.
A wine to be enjoyed in the medium term with antipasto plates
and rack of Lamb.

Allandale Winery Orange Cabernet Sauvignon
This is the first Orange-grown Cabernet Sauvignon produced
by Allandale Winery. The 2001 vintage was exceptional and has
convinced us to continue obtaining fruit from this new region.
A small parcel of fruit was picked in mid-April with terrific
flavour. After crushing, the grapes were divided into two small
open fermenters and hand plunged before pressing. The wine
proceeded through malolactic fermentation in one-year-old French
and American hogsheads. This elegant wine will pair beautifully
with char-grilled meats and Italian meals. It will age gracefully
over the next 10 years.
