With
long summer evenings just around the corner, Koala Creek Wines is proud to announce it
has the perfect drop for a balmy night – the 2003 Vintage White Shiraz.
Made for drinking on hot nights by the beach or as a sunny lunchtime aperitif, the new
wine has been made specifically for the USA.
It is the latest addition to the Koala Creek portfolio, which also features Chardonnay,
Shiraz and Cabernet Sauvignon.
Many people ask how the Koala Creek White Shiraz can be made from Australia’s famous
red grape.
Koala Creek winemaker Rod Bourchier, winner of over 2,000 wine awards, explains:
“Juice inside a red wine grape is clear. It is the wine grape skins that contain
the red colour pigments. By waiting for the red wine grape skins to float to the surface
after crushing, they can be removed before the red colour compounds start changing the
colour of the juice. That way, the grape juice that remains is a light pink in colour
and is ready for the winemaking process”
Koala Creek has made this White Shiraz in line with traditional European wine making styles
that are enjoyed during the warmer months of the year and often served chilled.
Rod Bourchier explains:
“This White Shiraz has been made to be a more elegant and dry wine style in line
with traditional European wine making, which will be suitable to experienced and novice
wine drinkers alike. With a residual sugar level of six grams per litre, as opposed to
the regular 15 to 30 grams per litre, this wine enjoys the fruity nose characters of
watermelon and strawberry while delivering a crisp clean finish. By deliberately avoiding
the excessively sweet wine styles, consumers will be able to enjoy all the fruit flavours
that this Shiraz delivers.”
The Koala Creek 2003 White Shiraz should be served chilled and is ideal as a pre-dinner
aperitif or the perfect accompaniment to traditional summer fare such as fresh garden salad
and tuna.
