THREE U.S. RESTAURANTS WIN BIRRA MORETTI’S BEST AUTHENTIC ITALIAN RESTAURANT AWARD
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE THREE U.S. RESTAURANTS WIN BIRRA MORETTI’S BEST AUTHENTIC ITALIAN RESTAURANT AWARD Birra Moretti & Restaurant Magazine Recognize Authentic Italian Dinning Around the World
MT. PLEASANT, SC (July 18, 2011) –Birra Moretti has symbolized authenticity and quality in the Italian community for 150 years. The company celebrates and appreciates authentic cultural cuisine by endorsing chefs around the world who embody true Italian traditions. In partnership with Restaurant Magazine, creator and organizer of the “World’s 50 Best Restaurants,” Birra Moretti is proud to present its “Best Authentic Italian Restaurant” award to acknowledge restaurants in every continent who have best demonstrated the essence and art of Italian dinning.
Italian traditions have always emphasized the simple pleasures of enjoying fine food in the good company of others. To recognize the restaurants that best characterize the pleasures of Italian dinning, Birra Moretti’s selection of restaurants follows four specific points of evaluation: respect for cultural traditions, quality and origin of raw materials, the restaurant’s environment and the chef’s availability.
Restaurant Magazine and Birra Moretti utilized the collective expertise of the Electrolux World’s 50 Best Restaurants Academy, made up of over 800 restaurant specialists around the world, to review potential candidates. Birra Moretti and Restaurant Magazine collaborated as the final judges of the contest in each of the six continental regions: North America, South America, the Middle East and Africa, Europe (excluding Italy), Asia and Australia. From the United States, Perbacco in San Francisco won recognition as the “Best Authentic Italian Restaurant,” and Locanda Verde in New York City and Vetri in Philadelphia both received runner-up awards in the competition.
