Tasting Notes
The wine has a pale straw appearance and lifted citrus fruit
and lemon blossom aromas. This is a dryer style of Riesling
with the fresh acidity balancing the residual sugar. Citrus
flavours and floral notes resound on the palate and linger
on the clean, tight acid finish.
Food Matching
This wine is made to accompany food, but is particularly
paired with mild Asian dishes, seafood or crisp summer
salads.
Viticulture
The vines were trained to two canes on a Vertical Shoot Positioned
trellis. Balance shoot thinning, leaf plucking and trimming
and tucking were carried out to maintain a healthy canopy
and ripening conditions. The vintage was characterised by
a cool, wet spring and early summer, followed by a moderately
warm and dry ripening period. This gave average yields but
intensely flavoured fruit. Picking was carried out in mid
April.
Winemaking
The fruit was machine picked in the cool evening conditions
and lightly pressed, with the pressings kept separate.
The clear juice was then racked and cool fermented with
selected yeast to maintain the inherent aromatics. The
wine was 100% fermented in stainless steel. Serve chilled.
