Meet Erica Barnett, our Territory Manager working in Georgia and South Carolina! Erica enjoys the fast-paced, ever-changing nature of her job in the alcohol industry. She also enjoys yoga, traveling, dining and tasting new wines! Find out more about Erica in our Q&A below.
How long have you been working for TBS?
I’ve been working for TBS since August of 2017, so a little over a year!
What is your title?
I am the Territory Manager for Georgia and South Carolina. I sell beer in Georgia, and I sell our entire book of beer, wine, and spirits in South Carolina.
And what do you do in that role?
My role as a Territory Manager is to work with our distributing partners in my territory to make sure our products are registered/priced/delivered correctly. I also get to spend a lot of time in the market actively presenting to our retail customers.
What is a day at TBS like in your shoes?
I start my morning answering emails, and I go wherever my day is scheduled! This changes daily – which is one of my favorite aspects of the job. I could be traveling, meeting distributors, tasting our products with customers or any combination of the above! It’s always different.
Tell us a little about yourself:
I love finding myself in new situations, and I think the best way to get to know a person or a culture is over food and drinks. I absolutely love my job and the alcohol industry, so it sort of permeates my “after-work” life. You’re likely to find me at dinner ranting about the weather in Burgundy in ’89 and discussing my opinions on the comparative value of French wines vs. Italian wines. I also love yoga and the amazing music scene in Atlanta.
Okay, if you haven’t ever taken a “daiquiri time-out” during your day, you are missing out!
To make a daiquiri, use equal parts rum, simple syrup and FRESH lime juice. Shake until the tin is freezing cold and pour into your favorite coup glass. So easy and refreshing!
What do you like best about working at TBS?
I love the variety of activities I get to experience during the day with TBS.
What is one thing at work you can’t do without?
My amazing team! While we work independently in our markets, we all support each other regularly, and I always have someone on the team with whom I can share my successes and explore challenges.
Favorite place to travel?
In January of this year, I was lucky enough to participate in a trip to New Zealand with TBS to visit one of our suppliers, Tohu/Kono wines. New Zealand has always been a bucket list travel country for me, and I still can’t believe I was able to go for work!
Otherwise, I studied French for six years throughout school, and my favorite place to daydream about is a vineyard in the south of France.
Describe your perfect meal:
On a hot summer day in Georgia, give me a dozen oysters and a bottle of champagne at Kimball House.
Any charity near and dear to your heart?
I have worked extensively with the Feminist Women’s Health Center in Atlanta. We bring affordable and accessible healthcare to women in the metro Atlanta area. I’m very proud of the work the organization has accomplished within Georgian legislature. You can read more at www.feministcenter.org.
What do you do in your free time?
I like yoga, travel, dining, improv, music, concerts, etc.!
