How long have you been working for TBS?
9 years in September 2018! (September 2009)
What is your title?
And what do you do in that role?
I cover Florida, Alabama, Mississippi and Puerto Rico for our TBS beer brands.
What is a day at TBS like in your shoes?
Covering a large four state area is a lot of work, much planning goes into what is needed to do. I do a lot of traveling, working with all my distributors & their sales reps. Pre-planning is very important to keep you on the right track! We have a great team here in the Central Region, and we also have fun when we all get together! It is always great to get out to the trade and meet new people which is the best part of the job. Discussing our great brands with new people and getting the to try them and enjoy them, that is the reward!
Tell us a little about yourself:
I have been married to Desiree Marini for 25 years (on Sept 26, 2018); we have two dogs, Brandy and Maggie, our two kids! We both are from Westchester County in New York. I graduated from Iona College in New Rochelle with a BBA in Marketing & Management in 1983. I was a four-year starter on the Iona College Football team playing Outside Linebacker while being selected to the All-ECAC Conference Team in 1982.
I have worked in the beer business for 35+ years, starting out as a route sales rep selling Budweiser in NY, and then I was hired at Heineken USA working in NYC for six years covering the West Side of Manhattan and Staten Island. Heineken USA moved us (Desiree and I) to Florida in 1994 where I was the Division Manager covering the entire state. I started working at Total Beverage Solution in 2009 selling great imported beers covering the Southeast market!
If I can’t find one of our great beers to drink, I will enjoy Ketel One and Tonic – and maybe a few of those!
What do you like best about working at TBS?
We have great beer brands! Love selling them! After working for a very large company like Heineken, it is a pleasure working for a smaller company that has huge potential, and great people working here!
What is one thing at work you can’t do without?
My cell phone!
Favorite place to travel?
I have been to some European breweries, but my favorite city to visit is Brussels, it is a great place to visit as they have many great beers. Munich is my second favorite place to visit, but Weihenstephan is the best brewery to visit!! I’ve visited Amsterdam many times, it’s a great city too! Many memories in Amsterdam! Desiree and I love Las Vegas, our second home! We go there as much as possible! Obviously being from New York, it is always good to get home to see our family and friends in Westchester County!
Describe your perfect meal:
Joe’s Stone Crab on Miami Beach for stone crabs or a great steak. The Palm Restaurant for a great veal parmigiana. My wife’s cooking! If I pick one of her meals, it’s her meatballs & eggplant parmigiana. (No, I will not give you her recipes.)
Any charity near and dear to your heart?
I support many charity events in Southern Florida. Most are to support former NFL Alumni friends that have charity golf tournaments supporting Diabetes research, Youth Associations (Fore Life, Academic Scholarships), and a charity that helps build living communities for people with special needs. It is great to see the people we can help by doing these events!
What do you do in your free time?
I love to play golf. I played a lot of softball in the past and look forward to playing again soon. We also host poker parties at our house where we have a blast!
If you could keep any animal as a pet, which would it be?
A baby tiger!
If you could travel to one place on earth, right now, where would you go?
Italy, I have family there that I have never met!
Favorite pizza topping?
Favorite ice cream flavor?
Chocolate Peanut Butter
