Bière de Miel

Bière de Miel Photo
Style: Organic Honey Beer
Origin: Belgium

Tasting Notes

This amber beer with well pronounced honey aromas, has a very predictable dominating taste of honey. However, Bière de Miel is not cataloged in the range of sweet beers. The sugar in the organic honey, fully re-fermented in the bottle, creates a beer, not sweet at all but full of honey aromas with a very mild flavor with a beautiful citrus finish. Re-fermentated in the bottle.

History of Bière de Miel

In 1880, this honey-beer was a specialty of the farm-brewery Rimaux-Deridder – what was to become Brasserie Dupont. The farm was very well known and awarded with many prizes on various agricultural exhibitions. When the Dupont family took over the brewery, this beer disappeared from the market, but in 1997, more than 75 years later, Bière de Miel was “re-created” in an organic version. The label they use on the bottles is an exact reproduction of the original.
