Limoncello di Capri continues to be made using the same time-honored recipe since the beginning of the 19th century. A natural liqueur with excellent digestive properties, Limoncello di Capri is made by macerating lemon peels taken from lemons grown and hand-picked in Capri and Sorrento. It is a simple, natural product, free of colorants, stabilizers, additives and preservatives, which embodies all the authenticity of the original recipe. Limoncello di Capri is the “best-selling Limoncello in bars and restaurants, all over Italy.”

History of Limoncello di Capri

Limoncello di Capri S.r.l. was the first company to use and patent the term “limoncello”, an evolution of the ancient Caprese word “limonillo”. Limocello di Capri is proudly one of the only limoncellos produced using real lemons. The liqueur is "Only Lemons I.G.P." certified, meaning its lemons are only sourced from Capri Island and Sorrento Peninsula in Italy, due to the supreme quality and flavor of lemons from these areas. The Lemons used for Limoncello di Capri are farmed using organic principles and no chemicals or fungicides are ever used in our lemon groves. The IGP lemons are hand-picked then peeled and naturally infused. Limoncello di Capri is produced in small batches to control quality, and is the only limoncello that is controlled by the same producers from farming to bottling. Moreover, Limoncello di Capri S.r.l. is the only company in the Italian industry that embraces a strict process of control over the whole production thread, from raw lemons to end product. *I.G.P. (Protected Geographical Indication) designation ensures that the lemons used to craft Limoncello di Capri come only from the Isle of Capri and Sorrento. This is a promise of quality and source.
