Tasting Notes

The 2015 Lazuli has a deep, intense red color. It is complex on the nose with mild notes of ripe red fruits, spices, and licorice. The palate is potent from the start with tremendous volume, structure, and elegance as well as firm, juicy tannins that lend great persistence to the finish.

Vinification: The grapes were hand-picked and hand-sorted. The fruit was gently de-stemmed to ensure only minimal breakage of the berries. The Syrah and Petit Verdot were cold macerated for four days. Fermentation of all the separate batches lasted 15 to 22 days with punch downs taking place one to three times daily. The wine was then aged for 20 months in new and seasoned oak barrels (70% French and 30% American). Prior to bottling, the wine was naturally cold stabilized and earth-filtered.
