Rosso Antico

Tasting Notes
Rosso Antico is the brand's namesake aperitif . Comprised of 32 herbs macerated in alcohol, five wines, with vanilla and citrus notes, this flavorful blend has a sour-sweet tang and herbal aroma.
History of Rosso Antico
Rosso Antico is known as “Bitter wine” it is produced in San Lazzar di Savena Italy. The predominant ingredient of Rosso Antico is a typical local wine that roughly forms 75% of the finished product and that is high in acidity and flavor. This wine is fortified with the right quantity of alcohol before preparing the finished product. It is produced by the infusion of 32 herbs macerated in alcohol (including rosemary, thyme and sage). The herbs that represent the sensory profile of Rosso Antico are cold steeped in a mixture of water and alcohol that makes it possible to extract the characteristic flavoring principles. The sugar needed to balance the bitter aftertaste of the herbal infusion is then added to the alcoholic wine, and the mass is then left to age for about a week to allow the ingredients to blend. Rosso Antico is refrigerated and undergoes two filtering processes before it is bottled.
