Corsendonk History

Dating back to the early Middle Ages, the brewery was first founded in 1398 within the Priory of Corsendonk which was home to a rather important brewery and malt-house. It stayed in operation until 1784 when Austrian Emperor Joseph II ordered to have the priory sold off. It wasn’t until the early 1900s that the brewery was revived and launched the highly respected Abbey Brown and Abbey Pale Ale. The simplicity of the bottle designs pays homage to the inception of the brewery in the early Middle Ages and created the distinct look of Corsendonk that is widely recognized and respected to this day.
