San Miguel History

Founded in 1890 in San Miguel, Manila under a Spanish Royal Charter that officially permitted the brewing of beer in the Philippines. The San Miguel escudo (seal) used as the brand logo of all San Miguel branded beer products is based on the original Spanish-era coat of arms of Manila. San Miguel Pilsen is the best selling beer in the Philippines and Hong Kong. Red Horse was introduced in 1982 as the first extra-strong beer brand in the Philippines.
