McIvor History

Legend tells of the original distilling of Scotch whisky at a Scotch abbey in 1494. Some 500 years later, whisky makers still practice the art of achieving balance in flavor and fragrance in their whisky blends. McIvor’s blended whiskies are aged for five, twelve and seventeen years in cask barrels previously used to age rum, giving the whiskies their distinct flavors.

Connoisseurs rave about the roasted nut and toffee aromas preceding a round, dryish medium-bodied palate with sweet buttery caramel, delicate spices, dusty minerals, and white pepper flavors. McIvor finishes with some lean mineral and petrol notes accompanied by a touch of caramel and dried heather.

Not surprisingly, this mélange of flavors has earned McIvor a number of awards, including Gold Medalist at the 2007 San Francisco World Spirits Competition, “Highly Recommended” & “Best Buy,” by the Beverage Tasting Institute and a Silver Medal at the International Wine and Spirits Competition.
