Porter's Gin History

With a passion for creating better drinks, the team that created Porter’s turned the basement of their bar in Aberdeen, Scotland into one of the UK’s most innovative micro-distilleries. They built their own unique still, which distills botanicals at low temperatures, retaining their fresh, natural flavor. Whilst working closely with the UK’s most respected gin distillers, they perfected the art of cold distilling botanicals.This respect for tradition while innovating results in exceptionally well balanced, refined, high quality gin recipes that bring together the best of classic and contemporary botanical distilling. Their cold-distilling technique results in gin recipes that are refined, light and fresh, making porter’s perfect for long drinks, aperitifs and highballs. The founders are Alex, Ben and Josh.

Alex Lawrence is one of the world’s top bar-tenders with a string of national and international awards. Voted UK’s best bartender in 2018 while working as the head bartender at the “worlds best bar” (World’s 50 Best, 2018), Dandelyan in London, also picked up “Worlds Best Cocktail Menu” (Tales of the Cocktail 2017). Alex now heads up the global bar operations for the Lyan group, operating venues in the UK, Netherlands and Washington DC.

With over 15 years experience, and the successful opening of two multi-award winning, high-end bars and a Michelin Guide restaurant, Ben Iravani is the team’s entrepreneur and industry expert. His flair for offering quality produce ensures the LLC products are worthy of a place in the world’s best bars and restaurants.

Following his law degree, Josh Rennie moved to Asia and spent 5 years running businesses in China, India and France. With a passion for premium drinks, he has returned to the UK to bring his commercial and international development edge to the team.
