Meet Bradley Burkett, our A/R Staff Accountant based in our Mount Pleasant, SC office! In his spare time, Bradley loves spending time with friends at a new restaurant, the beach, or hang out at home playing a board game. Find out more about Bradley in our Q&A below.
How long have you been working for TBS?
As of September 2018, I have been working for TBS for just over one year and two months.
What is your title?
A/R Staff Accountant
And what do you do in that role?
Invoicing, billbacks, inventory adjustments (samples), spend reporting, general customer service to distributors, treasury, reconciliations, and intermediary for transfers between distributors.
What is a day at TBS like in your shoes?
First, I record banking transactions from the previous day. Then, I make sure to touch base with the team. From there, I’m usually showered with emails the moment I walk in from customers and our market managers for some form of assistance, modifications and requests. During this time, I work with the accounting team and operations to get the job done. Throughout the day, I compile revenue by invoicing sales orders from our customers, who then pay us accordingly. A very important part of my job is to make sure our sales and trade spend with distributors is as updated and accurate as possible. If our distributors don’t receive the necessary credits from us for the various activities involved in our supplier-distributor relationship, they may delay payment to us. Therefore, I’m working diligently to get credits out as fast as possible.
Tell us a little about yourself:
I’m from Columbia, SC. I moved here for school at College of Charleston and just stayed because of Charleston’s beauty. I went to CofC for Accounting, Legal Studies and Spanish. I live with two of my best friends, Josh and Raisa, in West Ashley. Charleston is my home now.
Favorite drink?
Mojito, a classic.
What do you like best about working at TBS?
I like the autonomy. I like that I can do my job how I see fit. I love that I have such capable individuals over me, who I can learn a lot from. I like that I’ve had adequate training and that my discretion is trusted.
What is one thing at work you can’t do without?
Three shots of creamer in my coffee and my 3:00 PM Nespresso!
Favorite place to travel?
TBS put New Zealand on the map for me! I like to travel anywhere with a lot of walkable and hikeable areas. I love to travel and just get out of the house in general.
Describe your perfect meal:
Charleston is a culinary hot spot, so I routinely enjoy fine dining. Asian foods are especially my favorite. To keep it simple, my perfect meal is just a nice heaping bowl of chicken korma.
Any charity near and dear to your heart?
I’ve done some charity work with TBS, but near and dear to my heart is the March of Dimes. My sister was born premature, so I know how strenuous that can be on a family, both mentally and financially. In 2014 while I was working at Publix, I alone raised $1,500 in a matter of a couple days for the March of Dimes.
What do you do in your free time?
I like reading and learning new things. I love mixed martial arts and enjoy practicing Jiu-Jitsu and Judo. I’m a beach bum. Love deep conversations with friends and philosophizing about how to make the world a better place. I love music, especially EDM and Classical. I am a board game fanatic!
If you could have one super power, which would you choose?
Super intelligence. I read about everything and have way too many interests. I’d love to be a one man think tank!
If you could travel to one place on earth, right now, where would you go?
Bali
Favorite pizza topping?
Caramelized onions
