Total Beverage Solution is excited to announce that one of our most lauded breweries, Weihenstephan, has joined forces again with American brewery Sierra Nevada to create a new collaboration beer. These two brewing heavyweights have created a new limited-edition beer, Oktoberfest, just in time for the traditional German celebration. The beer is an American version of the classic German Oktoberfest beer, with its rich malt flavor balanced by a slight hint of hops—perfect for ushering in the cool, crisp months of fall.
Oktoberfest takes place every fall in Germany, beginning in September and ending the first week of October. “Oktoberfest beer began in Germany,” says Weihenstephan Master Brewer Tobias Zollo, “It is a very popular beer that you’d enjoy at the of summer, beginning of fall.” For those looking to enjoy the celebration stateside, you can find Weihenstephan beers at Oktoberfest gatherings from Rhode Island to California—or even pick up a six-pack and throw your own soirée. You can find out more by reading about the history of this unique celebration.
This occasion is not the first time that Weihenstephan and Sierra Nevada have worked together to produce an extraordinary new beer. Earlier this year, the breweries worked together on Braupakt, a collaboration beer that brought together techniques and recipes from Weihenstephan—the World’s Oldest Brewery—with a little bit of New World flair from America’s Sierra Nevada. Braupakt was recently awarded the “Country Winner Germany” for an American Style Wheat Beer by the 2018 World Beer Awards.
Those looking to experience the truly authentic version of an Oktoberfest beer can try Weihenstephan’s Festbier. Brewed with the finest hops and using Weihenstephan’s centuries-old traditional methods, this Märzen lager is the yardstick with which all other Oktoberfest beers are judged. Only available during the fall season, Festbier has been named one of the Top 10 Oktoberfest Beers by Gayot. With a rich malty taste and smooth flavor, it is easy to see how Men’s Journal deemed it “supremely drinkable.” So get ready to celebrate like the Bavarians, and find Weihenstephaner Festbier at a retailer near you.
