Meet Marina Terzieva, our Accounting Manager based in our Mount Pleasant, SC office! When Marina isn’t hiking, camping, or bungee jumping, she leads her department in all aspects of accounting. Find out more about our former First Class Award winner in our Q&A below.
How long have you been working for TBS?
It will be seven years with TBS in October 2018!
What is your title?
Accounting Manager
And what do you do in that role?
I am part of our accounting team which is responsible for collecting our revenue, paying our vendors, reimbursing expense reports and making sure we comply with the general accepted accounting principles.
What is a day at TBS like in your shoes?
I normally wear high-heels, so for some people it might be a little rocky! Oh, is this not a fashion question? Sorry, English is not my first language!
Normally, my days are pretty structured and quiet and normally spent behind my two big monitors looking at spreadsheets and listening to music.
Tell us a little about yourself:
I grew up in Bulgaria where most of my family still lives. After graduating highschool I moved to the US to attend Wesleyan College in Macon, GA. While I was in college I visited my sister in Charleston a few times, and knew that it was the place I wanted to move to after college. With a lot of luck on my side, I found my first post-graduation job at Total Beverage and as they say the rest is history.
Favorite drink?
A glass of Kono or a dry rosé will always satiate my thirst for an adult beverage!
What do you like best about working at TBS?
I think it is the opportunity to be around a lot of people who have so much passion and knowledge about what they do, which is definitely contagious! TBS has been a place where there hasn’t been a day that goes by that I did not feel challenged in some way or able to share a laugh with someone! And of course, who doesn’t love a company that will take everyone to New Zealand for a weeklong trip!
What is one thing at work you can’t do without?
Excel! I hope this answer can stay between us and is not to be shared externally! I might lose a few friends over it.
Favorite place to travel?
I love going back to Bulgaria to visit my friends and family. However, on my bucket list there are still many places in the US that I would love to visit – I still have not been anywhere on the west coast!
Describe your perfect meal:
I love anything spicy!
Any charity near and dear to your heart?
Camp Happy Days, which is an organization that provides life-changing experiences for kids who are battling cancer. They provide a week long camp experience for the kids and their families every year. This year actually will be the first year when I will be attending camp with the kids for 2 full days in the beginning of July. I am truly grateful that TBS is a company that believes in community outreach and supports its employees to spend some of their time volunteering!
What do you do in your free time?
I try to balance out my work behind monitors with spending my free time doing anything else but looking at a screen. I love going hiking, camping, going to the beach and going to see live music!
If you could keep any animal as a pet, which would it be?
I would love an animal that can do the dishes! Maybe like the ones they have on The Flintstones?
If you could go to one concert (even if the singer is dead or alive) what would it be?
I would love to have gone to a Prince concert!
Favorite ice cream flavor?
Pasticcio
